NOTE: Postdoctoral Fellows, Summer and Student Employees, Contractors, Commission Officers, TERM and Title 42 employees are NOT eligible for this program. ALL applicants will retain their current salary; however, applicants at the GS-6, 8, 10 and 12 or higher level will be required to take a demotion in grade to enter the program. MI Applications and Program DeadlinesTHIS MANAGEMENT INTERN PROGRAM IS OPEN TO CURRENT NIH EMPLOYEES ONLY! Apply now for the MI Program!Thank you for your interest in the Intern Program at the National Institutes of Health. Recruitment for the class of 2012 Management Interns closes on March 12, 2010. General information about the application process may be found below. In addition, the Administrative Careers at NIH section of this site will provide you with more information about the occupations that are filled through this program. The deadline and the process are as follows: Applicants MUSTCompleted application packages must be submitted via HHS Careers. The package and attachments must be received by March 12, 2010. Application packages received after that date will not be accepted. Agency Responsibility and ReviewDuring the months of March and April, your application will be reviewed and evaluated by Human Resources using the HHS Careers process. Agency Notification to ApplicantsHighly qualified applicants will be notified by mail the week of April 12, 2010. All other candidates will be notified the week of April 26, 2010. All highly qualified candidates will be required to participate in an extemporaneous writing exercise. Extemporaneous Writing ExerciseQuarterfinalists will be asked to report to the National Institutes of Health on April 28 and April 30 for an extemporaneous written exercise. The exact time and location will be included in the letter that will be mailed the week of April 12. The written exercise will be 1 hour and the topic will not be made available until you report for the exercise. You will be provided all the necessary material; using a computer equipped with either MS Word or WordPerfect will be allowed. Semifinalists will be notified by e-mail the week of May 17th. Group InterviewsGroup interviews will take place on May 26th and will involve a group problem-solving exercise. The group exercise (6 or 7 individuals per group) will take approximately 45 minutes. There are no make-up opportunities for this portion of the process. Out-of-town applicants will be given the opportunity to provide an extemporaneous writing sample from their current duty station. Finalists’ InterviewsCandidates for final interviews will be notified prior to panel interviews scheduled for June 7 and 8. Finalists will be notified by phone of their status and the date, time and location for their final interview. Notification of FinalistsAssessment of candidates by the ATC and the announcement of the selection of Management Interns will be finalized by the week of June 21. The MI Program Manager will inform selectees via telephone. Applicants are urged to reserve the dates above on their calendar immediately. Eligibility for the Management Intern Program depends upon the availability of highly qualified candidates and finalists on these dates.
