Nurse Practitioner External Web Site Policy

As a Nurse Practitioner at NIH, you will conduct comprehensive patient management activities such as writing admission, transfer, and discharge orders; ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies; ordering appropriate medication and treatments; referring patients for consultation when indicated; monitoring of patients for possible adverse reactions to drugs or procedures that may require emergency treatment or revision of the prescribed regimen. You will predict and analyze trends in patient conditions and develop a patient management plan in response to the data obtained. You must assess nursing needs to provide safe and efficient care, design and implement specific protocols and may serve as an associate or principal investigator for those protocols. You will also provide specialty consultative services to colleagues in nursing, medicine and other disciplines.

Clinical Nurse External Web Site Policy

As a Clinical Nurse at NIH you will serve as the primary nurse or coordinator of care for a specific population of patients evaluating patient care for a full assignment of patients with acute and/or complex care needs.You must assess nursing needs to provide safe and efficient care, develop plans to address patient's comprehensive needs including health education and safety, and participate in multidisciplinary conferences and activities regarding patient care and protocol implementation.

Nurse Consultant External Web Site Policy

As a Nurse Consultant at NIH you will recruit and screen new patients, assessing their eligibility for available clinical trials. You will develop short and long-term program strategic plans that support the mission of the organization, predict and analyze trends in patient conditions, and develop a patient management plan in response to the data obtained. You must collect data, identify clinical problems, and process research specimens.You will have the opportunity to participate on committees to revise medical and administrative policies and procedures, oversee the development and implementation of program outreach/recruitment initiatives, and establish and maintain a system to implement new or revised regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures concerning the review, evaluation and disposition of clinical research protocols. Nurse Consultants also provide leadership, direction and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of: information, administrative and communication systems, research studies, evaluation of projects or monitoring systems to assure the delivery of consistently high quality nursing care.

Nurse Specialist External Web Site Policy

As a Nurse Specialist at NIH you will be providing clinical and administrative direction of emergency patient management procedures, and works with bioethics and legal staff on complex issues. You will evaluate the impact of research protocols on patients and make recommendations, predict and analyze trends in patient conditions, and develop a patient management plan in response to the data obtained. You will interview and screen eligible patients to establish whether they meet the criteria for entry into approved protocols, collect data, identify clinical problems, and process research specimens. You will have the opportunity to participate on committees to revise medical and administrative policies and procedures, oversee the development and implementation of program outreach/recruitment initiatives, and establish and maintain a system to implement new or revised regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures concerning the review, evaluation, and disposition of clinical research protocols.

Minimum Requirements
