National Institute on Drug Abuse

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Director, Division of Epidemiology, Services, and Prevention Research.  The position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for scientific and managerial leadership in a highly dynamic and diverse area of health research.  The Director provides leadership and direction for the scientific portfolio of the division, representing a broad range of investigations focused on epidemiology, services and prevention research to understand and address the range of problems related to drug abuse in order to improve public health. To carry out its mission, the Division has a staff of approximately 37 employees and an annual budget of approximately $270 million.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess an M.D., and/or Ph.D. degree, and will have knowledge of theoretical approaches to epidemiology, services and prevention research, genetic factors across development in the course of drug abuse/addictions and related HIV risk behaviors, and evidence-based practices utilized in the development of services to prevent and treat drug abuse/addictions, and related health conditions such as HIV/AIDS. The individual must also have demonstrated ability to manage personnel, budgets, and timelines across multiple fiscal years.
