On April 22, 2024, HHS released the updated Instruction 990-1 Workplace Flexibilities Policy. Workplace flexibilities (WPF) allow federal employees to work outside of a normal office environment and set reasonable unconventional schedules to meet the challenges of evolving workplace norms.
On April 22, 2024, HHS updated the Workplace Flexibilities Policy which includes guidance on Telework, Remote Work, and Alternative Work Schedules (AWS). Use of these flexibilities requires supervisory approval and a signed Workplace Flexibilities Agreement (WFA), as well as completion of WPF training.
This self-help Employee Roadmap is a tool that provides situation-based guidance to help employees modify existing, or engage in new, workplace flexibilities.
The WFA is intended to capture all WPF programs; if you are utilizing multiple flexibilities, please ensure that your use of Telework, Remote Work and/or AWS is captured on your agreement.
